The story behind our beginning

Hi there and welcome to Anglesey! You may not know but we are a brand new holiday business specialising in camping and cottage holidays solely on the island of Anglesey. We would love you to come and stay and experience the island, it is a truly special place.

One evening at Plas Yn Llangoed both our families gathered around the campfire, and whilst the children played and ran freely around the fields, us adults were merrily talking about our campsite plans for the future. Coincidently, both families had plans to offer campsite facilities and cottages for holidaying from our separate locations on opposite sides of the island.

We didn’t want to join the big accommodation booking sites, it didn’t fit with our ethos and that’s when we thought, hey why not blend our offerings together and that was the exact moment Camping & Cottages, Anglesey was born.

We are also part of Greener Camping Club and you need to be a member of this awesome membership body to camp with us here at Llangoed.

Gorse Cottage

Our first property to be renovated and available to stay is the cute fisherman’s cottage near the sea in Camaes Bay. Named Gorse Cottage because of all the sunshine yellow coconut smelling gorse found on the island and in its hedgerows.

We opened the same week as lockdown in Wales lifted. We wanted to inject a little of the rich Welsh culture of the island into the property. The designs of the welsh blankets for instance go back hundreds of years and each pattern is special and relates to a distinct period of Welsh textile history.  The lighting is also unique with colourful glass hand blown table lamps and hand-made artisanal lamp shades reflecting the Welsh textile theme.

Plas yn Llangoed Campsite

Setting up an eco-campsite is about providing an environmentally friendly approach to holidaying. We tried to weave as much of the eco ethos into the development of the camp site as possible.   One of the things we like to do is repurpose materials. For example the toilets and showers have all been hand-made and built using reclaimed pallets.

We like eco-friendly products and have chosen to use bamboo toilet roll for our toilets, ‘Faith in Nature’ shower gel, shampoo and washing up liquid.

We are now part of Greener Camping Club membership too.

Plas Y Llangoed  – Llangoed house

Before it was brought back to life it was a big old dusty house or perhaps more accurately, a big old ruin, and it didn’t look anything like it does today. If you are interested in history and restoration you can read more about the transformation the house has undergone here click here.

If you are staying in our cottages or our campsites, I hope you will enjoy the exploring, sharing of time and the memories you will make.
